Calendar: Grow Native Nursery in the Veterans Garden
Title: Welcoming Wildlife into Your Garden
When: Sat Mar 15 10 am - 11 am
Description: We can invite nature to visit wherever we garden with these simple suggestions and the right native plants. Learn how to provide shelter, water, food and nesting sites for a wide variety of our animal friends. No matter how small your garden, you can help mitigate the loss of our wild lands by bringing nature home.

Richard Hayden is the head gardener of the Nature Gardens at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, a 3 acre wildlife habitat garden. Prior to becoming a steward for nature in the urban core, Richard had a 20-year career as a residential landscape designer and served as the president of the Los Angeles District of the Association of Professional Landscape Designers (APLD) for 2011 and 2012. He has created exceptional garden environments around the country and his work has been featured in many publication including Architectural Digest, Elle Décor and Martha Stewart Magazine. Richard is a passionate proponent of low-impact landscape practices including planting native plants, capturing rainwater, creating wildlife habitat and emphasizing healthy soil biology.
