A significant portion of the biological diversity within the Mojave Desert is only apparent for a few months of the year; these are the spring wildflowers. During this weekend workshop you will learn how to identify the common wildflowers and plant families of the Mojave Desert using field guides, dichotomous keys, and diagnostic features. Morphology of flowers and fruits, and terminology useful in plant identification will be reviewed. The workshop will include a field trip to the western Mojave Desert just north of the San Gabriel Mountains. This is an introductory level course, appropriate for those with no prior knowledge or those seeking a review.
Transportation for the Sunday trip will be provided by RSABG. Naomi Fraga, Botanical Field Studies Coordinator, RSABG Classroom Session Saturday, March 29 9:00 am – 4:00 pm Field Trip Sunday, March 30 8:00 am – 2:00 pm $150 ($180 nonmember) Code: 082BOT100 |
