Part of RSABG's living collection is in the form of viable seed that will be propagated in the future. Keeping seeds viable for extended periods of time requires preparation and storage conditions that prevent accidental germination or seed death. Also, seed must be collected at the proper time because seed that is collected too soon is often not viable or does not survive storage. Students will practice collecting seed in the Garden. Then, working at the seed-storage facility, students will learn how to properly document, clean, and prepare the seed for storage.

Michael Wall, Seed Curator, RSABG
