This class is for the plant enthusiast or amateur botanist who wants to be able to identify plants in the field. Participants will become familiar with the plant communities of Southern California and learn the key plants that make up these communities. They will also be introduced to the use of field guides, identification manuals and technicalv floras. More importantly, they will learn some practical and fun “field-sense” when trying to identify plants. Class sessions are informal and hands-on, with dissection and examination of fresh and dried plant material. A familiarity with basic botany is recommended.
