Perennials are an indispensable part of every garden regardless of size. Borders of perennials around the yard and house can provide a source of dramatic backdrop, interesting focal points, color schemes, and a matrix of fine and bold textures. The right combination of perennials also provides an abundance of cut flowers throughout the year. However, calculating progression of bloom and coordinating height, texture, color and form for borders is an art requiring a little know-how and a lot of experimentation!
Carol Bornstein will discuss the essentials of creating perennial borders using California native plants. She will illustrate different types of designs suitable for every garden and provide lists of perennial plants used to create dramatic borders. Ms. Bornstein will also conduct a walk through the Garden and point out examples of excellent border perennials.
