Part Time – Summer Seasonal Position 20 Hours per Week Position OverviewUnder supervision of Grounds Manager and/or Horticulturist, helps maintain the living plant collection including: planting, pruning, weeding, watering, and removing dead plants.Duties and Responsibilities• Provides ongoing care and maintenance of the Garden's living collection.• Cleans up and removes Garden debris (including dead-heading of spent flowers and litter) as necessary. • Plants, mulches, and prepares soil. • Provides supplementary watering manually as needed. • Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications• Demonstrated interest in Californian native plants.• Some gardening experience and/or recognized horticultural certificate or pursuing such certificate/degree. • Knowledge of safe and proper use of hand tools, gardening tools and basic cleaning equipment. • Must work well with others and be attentive to work. • Must have a valid California driver’s license. Physical demandsAbility to stand for extended periods of time and walk long distances to various outdoor locations. Must be able and willing to work outside in various weather conditions. Must be able to maneuver in narrow or confined places around fragile plants.
