ALIEN FERNS IN HAWAI'I

Platycerium superbum

Platycerium superbum DeJoncheere & Hennipman has not been included in this list of naturalized species, but in 1992 Barbara Joe Hoshizaki (pers. com.) found that young plants of this fern were volunteering on tree branches near cultivated plants growing in the Nu'uanu Valley, O'ahu. It will no doubt find this valley a very favorable area for continued spread.
