Hola from Tarifa-III

Today we searched in the areas that were indicated as natural parklands on the map.  The designation of lands as “Parque Natural” is a little confusing because typically most of the land is privately owned and intensively used.  There are hiking trails at some sites and we hiked in two areas without finding Iris or other species of interest.  On some of these lands we found horses, cattle, pigs and goats all using the fields.  As a result there is little native vegetation or often no vegetation at all beyond thistles. -May 21, 2007
