Hola from Tarifa-V

We spent the day searching several areas east of Tarifa that are indicated as natural areas.  At one area we were unable to find the hiking trail.  We asked a local man who indicated it was very difficult to see the hiking trail and who suggested that we hike in a different area.  Although we saw horses and some very large bulls with impressive horns, we did not see any areas of native vegetation and did not find I. juncea.
Although we had hoped to find I. juncea and have been enjoying our hotel and time in Tarifa we are prepared to give up on finding the species.  We decided to travel to Portugal to hunt for I. boissieri, which is considered to have a limited distribution in the mountains of northern Portugal and adjacent Spain. We will return our car in Malaga and arrange travel to Portugal. -May 23, 2007
