Lotus watsonii

This low shrub grows outside the salt spray zone on the higher southerly and easterly flanks of the island’s cinder cone. In summer strings of yellow-orange flowers adorn its trailing branches. It reaches a height of 1.5-2 ft tall and is most abundant on the plateau near the peak of the island on the southeastern side. This species is restricted to the coast of Baja California in the northwestern portion of the state (the California Floristic Province).
