Events at Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden

Throughout the year, the Garden offers events that celebrate our connections to California native plants and the environment. These festivals, shows, concerts and other events provide new ways to experience the Garden. Some events are free with general admission; if events are ticketed, you may purchase your tickets online through the registration links below or at our Admissions Kiosk.

Photo Contest: Origami in the Garden²

Show us the Origami in the Garden² through your lens at Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden! Starting February 10 through March 9, we invite photographers and photo-takers of all ages to capture their favorite moments, angles, features and perspectives of this blockbuster exhibition. You can submit photos taken throughout the show, since it opened on October 20. Photo submissions will be judged for aesthetic quality and merit; photos must be hi-res. There will be one grand prize winner, along with other categories and fabulous prizes!

Categories and prizes include:

One Grand Prize Winner: Pegasus Mini Bronze Sculpture by Kevin Box & Robert J. Lang

One Professional Photographer Winner: OiG Gift Bag filled with a Tee-Shirt, Coffee Mug and other surprises plus $100.

One Non Professional Photographer Winner: OiG Gift Bag filled with a Tee-Shirt, Coffee Mug and other surprises plus $50.

One RSABG Volunteer & Staff Photographer Winner: OiG Gift Bag filled with a Tee-Shirt, Coffee Mug and other surprises plus $50.

One Young Photographer Winner (under 18): OiG Gift Bag filled with a Tee-Shirt, Origami Paper, an Origami Book and more fun OiG merchandise.

The winners will be announced on March 10 at Family Fun Day, when Jennifer and Kevin Box, creators of OrigamiintheGarden2 will be at the Garden. So scroll through your old images from last Fall that you snapped of OiG2, or come visit this Spring and grab new images of the artwork at our garden.

In the email please supply us with your full name, email and phone number as well as what category you fall under. These include Professional Photographer, Non Professional Photographer, RSABG Volunteer & Staff Photographer and Young Photographer (under 18). All submissions must to be emailed to origamiinthegarden@gmail.com. In order to be a part of the contest, the photosMUST be submitted to this email.

Second Sundays: Free for Claremont Residents

Are you a Claremont resident? Enjoy free admission on our special Second Sundays program, sponsored by the City of Claremont's Community-Based Organization (CBO) Grant Program. In addition, everyone may enjoy free docent tours and family folding stations, where children and families can fold their own origami creations!

For January's Second Sunday, enjoy drop-in art activities for the whole family! Art Trek, an independent, hands-on, not-for-profit arts program will help get your creative juices flowing with many types of art-making. Get inspired by the Origami in the Garden² sculptures and make your own works of art!

Guests must show driver's license or valid ID with Claremont zipcode for free entry.

Meet the Artists: Origami in the Garden²

Join us for this exclusive reception and private tour with Jennifer and Kevin Box, the artists behind Origami in the Garden²! Get your exhibition questions answered by the creators of this evocative show and hear about their artistic journey. Refreshments will be served and a screening of Between the Folds, a movie about artists and scientists passionate about the art of origami and its amazing applications, will be shown following the reception. Hosted by the Claremont Community Foundation.

Family Fun Day at Origami in the Garden²

All children 12 and under receive free admission on this day of art and fun centered around the Origami in the Garden2 exhibition! Bring the family and visit all 16 sculptures, make shibori, a Japanese textile art, with Art Trek! Fold origami with the Pacific Ocean Paperfolders! Enjoy a free screening of Between the Folds, a film about artists and scientists passionate about the art of origami and its amazing applications.


For an additional fee, you can tour the exhibition with the creators of the show, Jennifer and Kevin Box. Pre-registration for tours is recommended as space is limited. To reserve a spot on the tour, please click here.

Tickets for events are available for purchase at the Admissions Kiosk or online in advance. Ticket price includes parking (unless otherwise noted) and admission to the Garden. Limited tickets are available, advance ticket purchase is recommended. No refunds or ticket exchanges. Events are subject to change. In the event of cancellation due to weather, tickets are valid for one (1) complimentary admission to Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden during regular business hours, expiring one year from date (not valid for special or ticketed events).
